Scott Powell

Scott Powell is President of MDA Training, a firm that specializes in the design and delivery of finance workshops for the corporate and investment banking industries. Scott has written and delivered finance workshops for a wide range of financial institutions including Allied Irish Bank, ATB Financial, Brandes Investment Partners, Glenview Capital Management, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, ING, JP Morgan, Lloyds TSB, Royal Bank of Scotland and many others in financial modeling, financial forecasting, business valuation, advanced business and financial analysis, investment appraisal, and shareholder value creation.
Prior to joining MDA Training, Scott was a manager in Ernst & Young’s business risk consulting practice where he was heavily involved in the development and delivery of financial training internally and to Ernst & Young clients. Scott is a UK Chartered Accountant who holds an honors degree in Politics/Economics from Trent University, Canada and a master’s degree in Economics from Cambridge University.
Jordan Anderson
Associate, TD Securities
Jordan joined TD Securities Investment Banking in 2003, after working in TD’s Commercial Banking offices in Victoria and Vancouver. He started in the Toronto-based Real Estate team, and has since moved to the Vancouver Investment Banking office. Mandates on which Jordan has contributed include infrastructure financial advisory roles such as work with Translink for the $1.6 billion Golden Ears Bridge in Vancouver; M&A advisory mandates such as advisor to the Special Committee of Ballard Power Systems in the sale of their automotive division; and equity, debt and convertible debenture issues in a variety of sectors.
Maureen Howe
1996 – 2008, Managing Director RBC Capital Markets
Maureen Howe has 25 years of capital market experience. During her career she held various positions, both in the area of portfolio management, as well as in investment banking and as a sell side equity analyst. Maureen graduated from the University of British Columbia with a PhD in Finance, and has taught numerous courses in Finance at the Undergraduate level and to MBAs. She currently serves as a Director on a number of Boards.
Katriona MacDonald
Assistant Dean and Executive Director, Academic Programs – Sauder School of Business
Katriona MacDonald is the Assistant Dean and Executive Director of Academic Programs for the Sauder School of Business. Katriona plays a key role in the Dean’s office working with the Senior Associate Deans and program Directors on faculty-wide initiatives related to academic and program policy, strategic enrollment management and curriculum development.
Katriona has been with UBC Sauder School for seven years previously serving as Director of Academic Services for the MBA program and Assistant Dean & Director for the BCom program.
Rob Heinkel
Portfolio Management Foundation Professor in Finance – Sauder School of Business
Robert Heinkel has been teaching finance at the Sauder School for over 25 years, including supervising the UBC Portfolio Management Foundation. In addition to teaching and research, Rob serves as the Vice Chair of the UBC Faculty Pension Plan and is on the investment committees of two other endowments. Rob also experiences the capital markets from the issuer’s viewpoint, serving as an external member of the Risk Committee, which oversees the management of the debt of the Province of BC.

Steve Borritt
Vice President, RBC Capital Markets
Steve Borritt is a Vice President in the Investment Banking group of RBC Capital Markets, Vancouver office, where he focuses on clients in the paper and forest products and natural resources sector. Prior to joining the Investment Banking group, Steve worked in RBC’s Global Equity Research group as an Associate Analyst covering the Canadian Paper and Forest products sector. Steve has been involved in a range of transactions including both public and private equity offerings, restructurings and buy and sell side advisory mandates.
Prior to joining RBC, Steve worked in the Valuation & Strategy Advisory practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Steve is a Chartered Business Valuator, has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario
